A handout picture released by Guinness World Records taken on Nov. 3, 2011 shows 3-year-old Great Dane called Zeus from Otsego, Mich.

With a name like Zeus, this dog was born to tower over all others, and now he’s officially being recognized as the world's tallest by Guinness World Records.

Yup, that's the world's tallest dog -- imagine telling him to heel!

When the 3-year-old Great Dane stands up on his hind legs, he’s 7-foot-4, beating out the previous record-holder, Giant George, by an inch.

Zeus measures 44 inches from foot to shoulder and weighs 155 pounds.

Owner Denise Doorlag tells the Associated Press that she had to buy a van just to truck this other-worldly, 155-pound hound around.

Guinness World Records has named a Great Dane called Zeus the world's tallest living dog. TODAY.com's Dara Brown reports.

Here are eye-popping images of the biggest, fastest, longest, weirdest and wackiest record breakers recognized in 2012 and featured in the 2013 edition of "Guinness World Records."
